Who’s Coming

David Hayter

Born in Santa Monica, California, David Hayter spent the first eighteen  years of his life traveling the world while picking up the Japanese and French languages.  After graduating from high school in Kobe, Japan,  Hayter went on to study theatre at the prestigious Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto.

A seminal figure in the 21st century wave of comic-book cinema, David Hayter’s films have amassed over one billion dollars in Worldwide Box Office.  His screenwriting credits include the feature films, “X-Men”, “The Scorpion King” and “X2 : X-Men United”.  He also penned the script  “Watchmen”, directed by Zack Snyder for Warner Bros. Studios.

As a producer, he created the film “Burn” with Bryan Singer, and the pilot episode of “Lost in Oz, for Warner Bros. Television.

As an actor, his credits include the lead in the sci-fi film “Guyver: Dark Hero”, the voice of Captain America on the “Spiderman” animated series as well as a decade-long stint in the role of Solid Snake in the hugely popular ”Metal Gear Solid” video game franchise. 


Ciara Hanna

Ciara Chantel Hanna got started in the entertainment world when she was at the young age of 8. She traveled around Southern California singing with a local singing group, which entertained at such places as Knott’s Berry Farm, Royal Caribbean Cruise liner, and Universal Studios. She then pursued an acting/modeling career at 10. She starred in a few local plays before landing her first professional job doing a series of Commercials overseas for the United Kingdom. She also was very successful in modeling for such companies as Mattel, Robinsons May, California Halloween Costumes, Macy’s and many others on a regular basis. She then wanted to devote her time to school and friends when she came into her teens. Then her Senior year of high school she tried out for the new shorty season cycle 13 of America’s Next Top Model (2003). Out of 70,000 girls she made it into the top 16 girls. Being in front of the cameras again revived her love of entertaining. Since then she has done many television commercials, televisions guest-starring roles, music videos and films. She landed a role on the daytime soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful (1987), in which she has a recurring role playing a new character named Summer.

Ciara has a role in All American Christmas Carol (2013) starring Taryn Manning. Ciara plays Taryns Daughter Brandie. Ciara Hanna also auditioned with over 2500+ actors to win the role of Gia the Yellow Power Ranger for their 20th Anniversary Season of Power Rangers Megaforce (2013). It was filmed in New Zealand and aired on the Nickelodeon channel. She has recently appeared in the newest Power Rangers: Power Rangers Ninja Steel (2019).


Rosslyn Luke

Rosslyn Luke began her acting career at a very young age, in musical theater productions in her home town of Richland, WA. She transitioned to on-camera acting when she moved to Seattle for college. Rosslyn earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Washington and worked as an engineering consultant before deciding to pursue her acting talents full-time. While living in the Pacific Northwest, she accumulated many commercial and theatrical acting credits including two roles in SyFy Channel’s Z Nation and a role in the film Bigfoot. Rosslyn has always played sports and been very athletic, therefore she has been stunt training to expand her on-screen action skills. In 2017, Rosslyn relocated to Los Angeles and has since had the staring role in the Lifetime movie Nightmare Best Friend, as well as a recent co-star role opposite Nathan Fillion on the ABC episodic The Rookie. Her commercial career has taken her all over the world, including a recent shoot in Sayulita. Rosslyn maintains a very active lifestyle with hiking, swimming, gym routines, snow skiing and travel. She also keeps busy with weekly regular auditions, weekly acting classes, and production managing for two LA-based production companies.

Robert Meyer Burnett, writer/producer

Robert Meyer Burnett is best known for editing, co-writing and directing the award-winning cult favorite FREE ENTERPRISE, starring Emmy winners Eric McCormack and William Shatner. He was also a producer on MGM’s AGENT CODY BANKS and its sequel, AGENT CODY BANKS 2: DESTINATION LONDON. He developed and produced the horror feature THE HILLS RUN RED for Warner Premiere and Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment. Additionally, he was also a content producer for DVD and Blu Ray special editions, creating documentary features for such titles as THE USUAL SUSPECTS, SPIDER-MAN, TRON, X-MEN, X2, THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, THE TWO TOWERS, THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, SUPERMAN RETURNS, SHOOT ‘EM UP and most recently, the two-time Saturn Award-winning STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION Blu-Ray season sets.
He’s currently producing and editing the indie feature TANGO SHALOM, perhaps the world’s first Indie Jewish Spiritual Quest Family Dance Comedy Fable.

Escape Tactics, escape room experiences

At Escape Tactics, we provide an escape room experience requiring groups of players to work together, test their wits, and solve the greater mystery to make their “escape” from the room before time expires! WEN-CON is one of our favorite environments to host our escape room. From the welcoming and excited crowds, positive vibes, and creative minds, we are able to excel in providing teams with a memorable activity, giving them a taste of what we do and enhance their overall WEN-CON experience. In the previous year, we shared our love for mystery and detective skills through our 15-minute Sherlock theme! This coming April 13th, Escape Tactics will be providing a unique, pop cultural escape room scenario that is sure to leave our guests with a memorable WEN-CON experience!


Eli Wolff, video game artist/animator

Eli Wolff, a Pacific North-West native, has been a video game artist/ fx animator for the last 20 years, and a painter of pop culture art for the last 10 years.  He started painting traditionally with acrylics on canvas to take a break from doing computer art all day at work.  Over the years he has worked at Nintendo, Microsoft, and Take-Two interactive.

Wolff’s work reminds us we never have to forget the imagery that kick-started our imaginations as kids no matter how old we get. With a never ending stream of ideas ranging from Saturday morning cartoons, cheesy horror movies, or retro video games, Eli keeps making art that is fun for him to create and fun for everyone else to experience.  He will be bringing all his latest art prints, stickers, and magnets to this convention.

Yakima-based Elite Gaming Gear returns to host a variety of video game tournaments for players of all ages. Enjoy a VR Experience featuring the latest titles with full-length experiences available on a variety of Triple A titles. Stop by their photobooth!


Bruce Smith, Battle of Grayskull Temple – Miniatures Game

He-Man, Teela, & Man-at-Arms, try to wrest control of the Temple of Grayskull from Skeletor, Beastman & Mer-Man. Who will prevail? Good or evil? Who is good and evil depends which side you pick in this game. Game uses painted 25mm Miniatures and scenery. Each game runs around 1-2 hours. Maximum of 6 People per game. Sign-up sheet at the booth.


Kevin McCoy, designer/illustrator

Kevin McCoy, is a creative designer and illustrator based in the Pacific Northwest. He is currently working full time as a digital artist the past two years. Kevin has been working in the comic book industry for almost 5 years and a creative designer well over 12 years. His comic credits include Giant Slayer, Project Mammoth: Dying Light, various cover work for Zenescope, Mountain West Comics, Contraband and Counterpoint Entertainment. His creative design and illustrative works outside comics include promotional artwork for 20th Century Fox (Marvel), The National Football League (NFL), Seattle Seahawks, Starbucks, and storyboarding for indie movies.

The TARDIS

A full-scale Matt Smith TARDIS will be landing at WEN-CON this year! Sure to be nearby is Ryan – a Matt Smith Cosplayer & owner of the Tardis. Step up and take your photo or talk to Ryan about renting the Tardis for your next timey-wimey adventure. He can land it anywhere you want!

X-34 Luke Skywalker Landspeeder and Imperial Probe Droid

 Gregory Smith of Garrison Titan of the 501st Legion and Alpha Base of Rebel Legion will be exhibiting his full-scale replica X-34 Luke Skywalker Landspeeder. He will also be bringing Priscilla, Queen of the Glacier — an Imperial Probe Droid.

Bumblebee

Featured alongside Optimus Prime and other movie trucks from Age of Extinction last summer at the WA State Toy & Geek fest in Puyallup, this Bumblebee is coming to Wenatchee!

Tom Cook, animator

Tom began his career as an animator and director in 1978 at Hanna-Barbera Studios where he worked as an assistant animator on Challenge of the “SuperFriends”, “Godzilla”, “Scooby Doo”, “Smurfs”, “Pacman” and the “Flintstones”.

A short stop at Ruby-Spears had him working on “Thundarr the Barbarian”, “Heathcliff”, “Fang Face” and “Plastic Man”. Freelancing at Film Roman he worked on the Emmy Award Winning Garfield Special “Babes and Bullets” and for Bill Melendez on the Peanuts Special “This is America Charlie Brown”.

Moving to Filmation Studios in 1980, which at this point had become the only animation studio doing animation in the United States, and worked on “Tarzan”, “Flash Gordon”, “Blackstar”, “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids”, “The Brown Hornet”, “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”, “She-Ra Princess of Power”, “Ghostbusters”, “Lone Ranger”, “Zorro”, “The Kids Super Power Hour with Shazam” (Captain Marvel), “Hero High” and the futuristic Western “Bravestarr”. He was also involved with many TV commercials such as The Jolly Green Giant, Chevrolet, the 7 Up Spot campaign and the Paula Abdul video for “Opposites Attract” featuring MC Skat Kat.

He then directed many episodes of these favorite TV cartoons: “Road Rovers”, Disney’s “Mighty Ducks”, “PB & J Otter”, “Duckman”, “King of the Hill”, “Savage Dragon”, HBO’s “Happily Ever After Fairy Tales”, “Extreme Ghostbusters”, “Extreme Dinosaurs”, ” The Simpsons” and many more.

He also animated or was the Key Clean-up artist on a number of motion pictures such as Walt Disney’s “Prince and the Pauper” starring Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbit in “Tummy Trouble”, “The Jetson’s Movie”, “Rover Dangerfield”, “Stay Tuned”, “Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night”, Steven Spielberg’s “Were Back”, and Don Bluth’s “Thumbelina”.

Justin Hunt, illustrator/comic book artist

Justin Hunt is an illustrator and comic book artist from Puyallup, WA who has done works for NFL players, the NFL, the United States Army, has had several gallery shows, and does both interior sequential art and covers for comics. He has done comic art and illustrations with Y-Comics, No Gravity Studios, Pilot Studios, Marvel, Upper Deck (Black Panther, Clerks, Avengers, Antman and Wasp, and Star Wars), and is a cover artist with Coffin Comics and their flagship title: Lady Death, with several new covers coming out this year.

QEW Publishing

QEW Publishing is a privately-owned imprint that produces and publishes comic books, short stories, and novels. QEW Publishing’s hallmark is its passion to become an endless contributor to the industry of the entertainment arts in the field of writing. QEW Publishing was established in 2003 by writer and chief editor, Quenton Shaw. Mr. Shaw will be showcasing printed editions of comics QEW Publishing currently has available.

Suburban Vermin, kickoff band

Join Suburban Vermin at the WEN-CON Kick-Off Party for music, fun and prizes! Then see them again at WEN-CON on Saturday.

Compared to the likes of the Ramones, The Clash and the Buzzcocks; Suburban Vermin are known for their raw punk music sound. This year marks the 11th year for the group to collaborate as a band. Last year, the group produced the album and accompanying comic book series “TV Head Nation.” The dystopian storyline told in the music and written narrative is chock full of science fiction, horror and timely political observations.

Katie Clark, freelance artist

Katie Clark is a full-time freelance artist, painting her favorite things.  Katie grew up loving both art and video games and eventually decided to pursue a life combining both of these loves, moving to the Seattle area to attend DigiPen in 2003.  After earning a degree in Computer Animation and graduating as the school’s first ever female valedictorian, she worked at Nintendo for 6 years as a 3D artist.  She is credited on games and apps in some of her favorite franchises: Mario, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Kirby and Donkey Kong to name a few!  Now she has returned to her original love: traditional art.
Kate celebrates the characters that bring back happy childhood memories, and honors the new games that take over her life. She brings her work to comicons and conventions in the Pacific Northwest and her paintings are hanging around the world!


Drah Hard, illustrator

Drah is a local illustrator that has been making independent comic books with a his comic book group the Accidental Aliens 2017, which is based in San Diego. Drah was born and raised in San Diego and has recently transplanted closer to nature in Wenatchee, Washington. Formally taught in the field of Drawing, Painting, and Graphic Design; Drah applies his knowledge through Illustration, branding, textile design, creative consulting, sculpting and photography. Married to “The Scientist” and father to “Lil Ninja” he has family duties in the day and works on his art by night, creating exciting, whimsical, fresh stories of slice of life to fantastical space adventures, and mysterious things in between. Jeremy Colwell, illustrator

Jeremy Colwell was born and raised in Wenatchee, spending many hours and dollars at Galaxy Comics during his time here. He took art classes at WHS, WVC, and then moved to Seattle to attend UW where he earned his BA in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts. His colors are seen in books published by DC, Dark Horse, IDW, Image, and many others as well as advertising campaigns and even a Netflix series. He currently lives near Portland, OR with his two sons and three cats.

Brian Dorsey, special guest author

Brian Dorsey is an author, writer, producer, and comic book creator based near Seattle, WA.
He is the author of several science fiction and gothic novels, namely  the Gateway military science fiction series that has been well reviewed and is frequently in the Amazon Top 100 for the Space Marine genre. He has also been nominated for a Manticore Award for best author of a scifi novella, Draxius Redeemed, which is now part of the Cold Planet novel.
His comic book creations include The Book of Luka graphic novel and The Book of Jessica post-apocalyptic comic series as well War Angels, a new take on the Valkyrie legend.
He is also the creator, co-writer, and producer of the science fiction short, LIONS, which will be in the film festival circuit this year and is already an official selection at the Artemis Film festival in Los Angeles later this April.
He has three adult children and lives with his wife, Kira, near Seattle, Wa. When not writing or spending time with his family, Brian enjoys hunting and hanging out with his German Shorthair Pointers.

Joy Knight-Richards, cosplay performer

Joy Knight-Richards has been in the performance industry for over 30 years. Performing and teaching at various conventions, Renaissance Faire’s and speciality events across the Pacific Northwest and further. She is a magician, puppeteer, costumer, designer, makeup artist, MC and pro cosplayer. You can find her at Gypsy Realm productions, The Girl Next Door Cosplay and Visions by Victory on Facebook.

Dan McConnell, MAD artist

Well-known and widely published Cashmere artist Dan McConnell was born in Chelan WA “at an early age” and spent his school years in Quincy WA. He graduated from QHS then attended several Washington colleges until he ended up at CWU, Ellensburg with a BA degree in Broad Area Art.

He and his wife bought an orchard in 1974 and that is where he launched his comic strip “Apple Andy” in 1981. Since then his work, often political, has appeared in numerous regional and national publications, selling cartoons to syndicated cartoonists like Dan Piraro, British magazines, and American magazines, most notably Reader’s Digest.

Dan did freelance art for Marvel Comics from 1990-94; his byline will soon be appearing in the pages of MAD Magazine.


Ryan WellsRyan Wells, professional cosplayer

Ryan Wells, award winning professional cosplayer. Known for being a “Creature Cosplayer”, building larger-than-life costumes and drawing inspiration from fantasy and science fiction. Ryan is admin for an online cosplay group and is a huge advocate for sharing ideas, community and volunteering. Currently Ryan can be found designing and building props and sets for Escape Rooms in Portland, Oregon.

“Cosplay was a natural progression for me since there was simply not enough Halloween in my life. I love to learn new skills and trades as well challenges, inspiration and making connections through this great community.”


Jason Sims, magician

Jason Sims is a local magician specializing in illusions, subterfuge, and astonishment! A Wenatchee local, Jason has been doing magic for several years. A six year veteran of the Army, he deployed to Iraq in 2007. There he entertained his fellow soldiers, local kids, and even coalition forces from around the world.

Jason does magic locally part time and he enjoys sharing his mystical gifts with everyone.

Artoo 1.5

Long ago in a galaxy far, far away….

(Well no, actually quite recently and close by), a retired television technician looked back on one of his favorite movies and decided to try to recreate some of the interest and excitement of the STAR WARS films by modeling one of their most endearing characters, R2D2.

Because a simple, remote controlled toy would just be not enough fun and hard to share, he decided to build a drivable, functional replica in 1.5=1 scale.

The results is a 60” tall motorized vehicle suitable for public exhibition and display.

Artoo 1.5 features authentic details, electric power, music and voice, and a rotating dome.


Devri Walls, fantasy author

Devri WallsDevri Walls is a US and international bestselling author. Having released six novels to date, she specializes in all things fantasy and paranormal.

Settled in Meridian, Idaho Devri lives with her husband, two kids and the cutest mutt you’ve ever seen. When not writing she can be found teaching voice lessons, reading, cooking or binge watching whatever show catches her fancy. Venators; Promises Forged, book two in her extremely popular Venators series, will release April 30th2019.
